This hoverboard is designed a little bit differently. Instead of just a traditional board it actually is designed as a Segway. The main difference here is that you get a bar that helps you steer and you get a little more assistance with keeping your balance. Still, the style of the base for your Segway is the same as for most regular hoverboards and that means you’re definitely going to have something pretty cool.

This unit connects to your smartphone using Bluetooth so you can quickly and easily control everything about it. It actually works just like a remote control car, operating through your phone. And it has speed controls, lights and even diagnostics right there on the controller (your phone) so you are always in control of what’s going on. All you need to do is download the app and you’re off to a great start. You’ll even have access to the alarm that way.

Made to a high standard, this unit has 1600 watts of power and can move up to 10 miles per hour. It’s able to go about 14 miles per charge so you’re not going to get real far, but it’s definitely plenty of distance to have some fun. Not only that but it can run over a number of different types of terrain so it’s not something you can only use on cement or paved sidewalks.

  • When you’re moving you’ll also have a little more control because of the knee bar that is padded for additional comfort. You’re going to have an easy time moving it around and you won’t have to do it all with your feet like a traditional board, which means you’re going to have a little less of a learning curve to get used to.

This is a more traditional hoverboard in design and style. It has one wheel on each side and you have to be able to balance the board from front to back. There are no controls to help you steer or move except the electric motor of the unit and your own body weight moving back and forth to keep you going the right direction.

Guaranteed to be safe and free from overheating problems, this unit is designed not to spark or smoke or have any problems with catching on fire like some of the predecessors to this type of product had. It’s also able to reach speeds up to 10 kmh so you can move around quickly and you can do it on nearly any type of terrain because it’s designed to skate right over bumps and around corners with ease. Of course, that’s going to take a little bit of practice on your part.

You can lean forward to go forward or back to go in reverse and you’ll be able to turn by leaning from side to side. It’s going to take some practice, but you’re definitely going to have some fun with this unit and you’ll be able to really get around in a totally new and unique way. This hoverboard is able to drift around corners easily and more smoothly and it accelerates a lot more smoothly as well, which makes it a lot more fun of a ride and definitely not so rough.

  • There’s a one year warranty that’s actually based in the United States (which is also where this board is made) so you don’t have to worry about any problems and you’ll be able to get things fixed in no time at all. Just give them a call and get things taken care of fast.

The Swagtron is designed to be a little simpler but that doesn’t mean you’re not going to get a great ride out of it. You’re going to have a really smooth experience and you’re definitely going to love the unit. It comes entirely in black and has grips on the base of the unit to help you with overall stance and make sure that your feet don’t slide. The wheels also come up on each side to make sure you have enough balance and help you keep your feet on the board.

Able to drive up to 8 mph, this unit is able to get you up to 11 miles at a time, between charges. You won’t get real far, but you’ll definitely be able to get some fun and excitement out of it. But don’t get too far away before the power goes out because this unit weighs almost 30 pounds and you’re definitely not going to want to carry it anywhere far away.

It can hold weight up to 220 pounds and is completely certified that it won’t cause you any kind of electrical problems. You’ll even be able to use it on all different kinds of terrain so you can head out in your backyard or you can head off down the sidewalk to get a great ride. You’ll definitely need a little practice with the controls since they’re all based on your balance, but it’s going to be a whole lot of fun for you in the long run.

  • With a 250 watt motor and easier stabilization so you get traction going downhill and better control overall, this unit also has LED headlights for safety, battery indicators so you always know how much power you have and even two different riding modes so you have plenty to try out.

Hoverboard Buyer’s Guide

Wheel Size

One thing you want to look at is actually the size of the wheels. Did you know those were so important? Well they actually are because they tell you what your hoverboard is really going to be the best at. Smaller wheels are generally designed for smaller children who just want to play around with something. As wheels get bigger they’re better for going in different areas including different terrain. 6.5 inches is the standard and these can usually do pretty well in rougher terrain. Larger wheels are going to do better however, and 8-10 inch wheels are generally going to be best if you plan to go off road with your hoverboard.

Power Distance

You want to know how long you’re going to be able to ride your new hoverboard so make sure you know exactly how long the power lasts. If you don’t really know or you aren’t able to tell on the board somehow you could end up a decent distance away from your power source and your battery is dead. That’s definitely not something you want because you’ll either have to leave your hoverboard, call someone else to get you or carry it all the way back on your own. So make sure you know just how much power you have right from the start.

Maximum Weight

You also want to make sure that you’re able to use the hoverboard you’re looking at based on the weight requirements. Most hoverboards are going to hold a full-grown adult unless they were specifically built for children, but you definitely don’t want to take that chance. Make sure you’re looking at how much the hoverboard can carry and make sure you really do fit within those specifications. If you don’t you could end up with a broken unit and you definitely don’t want that because it could be a violation of the warranty agreement, which means there’s nothing anyone will do about it.

Top Speed

Another great factor to look at is the overall speed capability. If you want to go fast then you want something with more power. Now, hoverboards don’t go exceedingly fast anyway because they are still pretty new, but some will definitely go faster than others. If speed is a big concern for you then you want to make sure that you have something with the right amount of power that’s going to get you where you want to go. Make sure you know what yours can offer.

A hoverboard can definitely be a lot of fun and it can be a great new experience for people of all ages. It’s important that you make sure you get something that works for you and what you’re looking for from the speed and the distance that it can travel to the additional capabilities that it has. You’re definitely going to love riding around on it, even if it is going to take a little while to get used to the method.
