Toronto – June 16, 2007 – The Board of Directors of the Health and Science Communications Association (HeSCA) is pleased to announce that Chuck Lenosky assumed the Association’s Presidency at today’s business meeting attended by members at the 48th International Conference on Health and Science Communications. Mr. Lenosky was elected to the position of President-elect in June of 2006.
HeSCA is an association of communications professionals committed to sharing knowledge and resources in the health and science arenas. The Association’s mission is to advance an international community of professionals dedicated to promoting excellence in health and science communications through leadership, education, and the application of technology. The Association promotes excellence in the profession, fosters leadership, and enhances collaboration across disciplines through its commitment to lifelong learning, professionalism, service to others, and supporting our community of peers.
International in scope and diverse in background, HeSCA members broadly describe themselves as biomedical communicators. From conceptualization to final products, members are involved in designing, producing, implementing, and evaluating informational and instructional media experiences in academic, hospital-based, government, non-profit, and corporate environments.
“I am very happy to have Chuck Lenosky taking the reigns of this organization,” says Ron Sokolowski, Executive Director of HeSCA. “His strong leadership skills will help this Association grow as we focus our activities on the changing needs of our profession.”
“This is a challenge that I’m really looking forward to,” Lenosky stated. “My goal is to strengthen HeSCA so it continues to provide valuable networking and educational opportunities to our members, while I proudly represent Creighton as a national leader in my field.”
Mr. Lenosky is Director of Learning Environments and Senior Project Manager for Health Sciences in the Division of Information Technology at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.
During his 25 years at Creighton, he has developed expertise in Instructional Technology, specifically new classroom design, and video conferencing. He has lead the effort to standardize classroom technology in the university’s 165 classrooms and has participated in the State of Nebraska’s development of a Telehealth Videoconference Network.
He received the HeSCA’s Distinguished Service Award in 2006. The award recognizes members of HeSCA who have demonstrated an outstanding level of service in a variety of areas over a long period of time. Lenosky has served as Chair of HeSCA’s Education Committee in 1995-96, on its Board of Directors in 1998-99, and recently served as Chief Fiscal Officer from 1999 to 2005. He also served as the General Chair for the Associations 46th International Conference held in Seattle in 2005.
As an association of communications professionals, HeSCA is committed to sharing knowledge and resources in the health and science arenas. The foundation for our network is built upon our unique membership which has created opportunities for unlimited exchange of information and support.
