The conference will be held in the Hotel Fort Garry in Winnipeg, Canada. Built in 1913 by Canadian railway companies, the Fort Garry Hotel is an elegant chateau-style hotel with 230 rooms including 16 suites. Facilities include 16 meeting rooms, a piano bar lounge, an indoor swimming-pool, a heath club, and a LOT of character.

Room rate is $129.00 CDN per night, single or double. This rate is in Canadian dollars and converts to approximately $84 US per night.

Be sure to tell the registration desk that you are registering for the HeSCA Meeting.

Reservations must be made on or before May 18, 2002.

After the reservation cutoff date, rooms will not be guaranteed at the special meeting rate. Special conference rates will be honored for early arrivals or late departures, so come and stay as long as you like.

The hotel is centrally located in downtown Winnipeg. Taxi fare from the airport is approximately $13 CDN.


If you decide to rent a vehicle, the directions to the hotel from the airport are as follows:

- Leave the airport traveling East on Wellington Avenue
- Turn right onto King Edward Street, Route 90, traveling South
- Turn left onto Portage Avenue, Route 85. Portage Avenue is the TransCanada Highway City Route. Follow the green signs with white maple leafs with a large '1' in the centre.

- Stay in the right lane. Follow the TransCanada Highway signs on Portage Avenue which will take you onto Broadway Avenue. Drive East on Broadway Avenue. The hotel is on the right hand side between Fort and Garry Streets.
- If you miss Broadway, continue to travel on Highway 1 Trans Canada Highway (Portage Avenue) to Garry Street. At Garry Street, turn right and continue traveling until you hit Broadway Avenue and The Fort Garry.

TRAVELING FROM THE USA
The Southern traveler will be traveling on I29 which turns into Highway 75 (also named Pembina Highway). This turns into Donald Street. Once you have traveled over the Donald Street bridge (the only bridge you go over) stay in the right lane and turn right onto Broadway which is the first set of lights. Proceed East on Broadway to The Fort Garry which is located on the right hand side between Fort and Garry Streets.
