Check in on the conference as it happens!
Biocommunication Colleagues:
It
is a great privilege to invite you to join us in Asheville, North Carolina for
the 2000 Annual Meeting for Health Sciences Communications presented by the Health
Sciences Communications Association (HeSCA) in conjunction with the Association
of Biomedical Communications Directors (ABCD).
The field of biocommunications is rapidly changing and as it changes it
is our responsibility as professionals in this field to “march forward” and
stay “linked.” And “Linking
to the Future” in Asheville, North Carolina with your HeSCA and ABCD
colleagues is a good way to get in step.
We've put together a meeting that
will challenge you, and create a
desire in you to move forward in your particular area of biocommunications.
As always, we have tried to provide content for all of our members’
needs. Whether your interest is
design, production, management, delivery, or dissemination you will find
something in this year’s program just for you.
This
year we will be providing three keynote speakers.
The opening keynote “Educational Skeet – Where Do You Aim at a
Moving Target?” will be given by Anthony Hilger, Associate Professor
at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.
The closing keynote will center around the issue of web site development.
The Creative Lecture, “Thinking Interactively” will be given
by Robert Zielinski, the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Allen
Interactions, Minneapolis, MN.
And
as always there are workshops, presentations, panels, and roundtables to provide
you with a well-rounded week. BUT
let’s not forget the lighter side of the meeting as well. Networking formally and informally with your colleagues; a
tour of the Biltmore House (and opportunities for you to go explore the estate
on your own); opportunities to explore the quaint shops of downtown Asheville,
or among the galleries and artisans’ shops; the annual auction; and let’s
not forget the famous Ice Cream Social!
Asheville
is an ideal spot for you to bring your family and enjoy a little “R&R”
before or after the meeting as well. Enjoy
the splendor of the Blue Ridge Mountains; take a ride on the Blue Ride Parkway;
camp in one of the many campgrounds in the area; take-in a spectacular view from
the top of Mount Mitchell (the highest point east of the Mississippi); for the
kids, go to sliding rock and enjoy a cool day of fun in the river; or enjoy a
leisurely rafting day on the Nanthahala River.
This
is one meeting you do not want to miss! Great
opportunities for learning and sharing, and a beautiful location to enjoy a much
needed break from everyday life!
We
look forward to seeing all of you June 28 – July 1, 2000.
